ELECTRICITY
Every once in a while, someone will run over a parking lot light pole. Guess who they call to fix it?
The picture to the right shows a light pole in the parking lot of a Long John Silvers restaurant in Uniontown, PA. It was run over by a tractor trailer in the middle of the night. You can see that the pole fell somewhat to the left, toward the lot. What you can't see in this photo is the
power lines running through the air above the pole. Had it fallen toward the right, it would have fallen right into the power and communication lines. These poles are mounted on a concrete pier that typically goes 5 feet down into the ground, through which the electrical supply lines run after running underground from the restaurant.
A backhoe must be used to remove the damaged concrete pier. All electrical lines must be identified and repaired. New concrete must be poured with a tube form mounted in place.

Electrical conduits and reinforcing rods are added are installed. "J" bolts are then placed in the concrete in critical locations that must match up exactly with the base flange of the light pole.
After a week long curing period, the pole is mounted. The cross bar and luminaires are mounted in place on top of the pole by use of the aerial lift truck, and finally the electrical connections are made and the system is tested.
